♕ TENTH COMMAND | VIDEO

[The video opens to two badge cases, each with all eight Johto Gym Badges arranged neatly. The camera turns to focus on Archer then; he's smirking even more than usual, if that's even possible.]

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the previous record for earning all the Gym Badges was eleven months?

[It's not really a question. He remembers exactly what Mustang said.]

Kimblee and I have done it in eight.

[He'll give you all a moment to absorb that knowledge. Yes, yes, they're amazing, he knows~]

We're both seeking challenges from others who have gathered the Gym Badges. We both have teams at level 100, though we also have lowered-leveled Pokémon, if you're interested in challenging either of us. We would be interested in double battling as well, if any of you are interested.

[...Well, he would, at least. Sorry, Kimblee, you have no choice~]

We look forward to it.

[OOC: This is a double post! You'll receive replies from either Kimblee or Archer!]
explosivecombat: (And what have we here?)

[...okay, that's a little less painful than it could have been. He was honestly wondering how that was supposed to break down; either "El-Melloi" was the title, or you seriously asked him to call you Lord MyMiddleName - which, while admittedly hilarious in some ways, would just kind of get all the side-eye in the world because "Archibald" is possibly the most hideous part of all the wharrgarbl there.]

Well, I suppose the knowledge that you're some sort of nobility explains a lot when it comes to your general demeanor. [You know, like seeming sheltered as hell, completely oblivious, and having a huge stick up your ass. Those sorts of things.] Although I must admit that's a bit of an...interesting title; I can't say I've heard of it before. Dare I ask what it's supposed to signify?
enjoymyatelier: look at him, gesturing flamboyantly. what a twit. (I'M A GENIUS!)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-16 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[honestly, it really is...]

Of course it does-this is how the head of any prestigious family going back for generations should act.

[...WELL PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE HERE KNOWS MAGIC EXISTS, DON'T THEY... SHOULD HE JUST... TALK ABOUT IT...]

It signifies exceptional prowess in the study of magecraft.
explosivecombat: (A sexy revolution!)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-18 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
[wow um

let him just point you to this handy diagram and we can all move on with our lives, okay]

Magecraft...I've met another that's openly referred to what they can do as "magic," but it's something that I would have expected from him; it's rare that I would hear someone older refer to it as such. Do you specialize in any particular field, or is it more generalized?

[Because no, seriously, do you people not hear how dumb that sounds? It makes you sound ridiculously uneducated to call it "magic," that's something he'd expect from a six-year-old.]
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-18 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[WELL, YOU KNOW...]

It does tend to be easier to refer to it as 'magic' when talking to people who would be ignorant of the distinction between true magic and magecraft, given how greatly the laws regarding what I would consider to be magecraft vary over different worlds.

In any case, I specialize in spiritual evocation and alchemy.
explosivecombat: (Pretty sure my whole brain is crying)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-18 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You're an alchemist...

[Okay, yes, there was something before that and he admittedly has no goddamn idea what you mean by "spiritual evocation" - really, that could be fancy shorthand for I'M A DEMON LORD, but he doesn't really care about that right now, that latter one was much more interesting.]

Please tell me that it's more than transmuting lead into gold where you're from, because that's what I tend to get thrown at me when I try to discuss it with others.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-18 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[...well if nothing else it means you can dump people into other worlds so]

Yes, it's certainly more than that. It has an extremely wide range of applications, though I'm not surprised that the average person tends to boil it down to that.

[...though...]

You're an alchemist from a world without magecraft, then? Would you know Mr. Alex Louis Armstrong, by any chance?

[HE HAS SOME QUESTIONS HE REALLY NEEDS ANSWERED...]
explosivecombat: (And what have we here?)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-18 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose you could word it that way; alchemy is considered a science in Amestris, not any sort of magecraft - it's considered a bit insulting to refer to it as "magic" where I'm from, and such things are generally assumed to come from the uneducated or very young.

As for Major Armstrong...I know him a bit, yes. He's a bit of an interesting one - I'm assuming you've met him?
enjoymyatelier: zach. they're here. (migrane's a comin.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-18 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Thaumaturgy is a very exact science where I'm from-though, as I said, "magic" exists. It's the difference between something that can be achieved within the laws of science and a miracle.

...Interesting doesn't even begin to cover it.
explosivecombat: (And what have we here?)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-18 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
...thaumaturgy.

[...YOU ARE ALL FUCKING INSANE.]

Right, well. Major Armstrong is an alchemist as well; has he discussed it with you any, or was your meeting with him one of the, ah, more unusual encounters?
enjoymyatelier: knight honor=dumb, mage honor=awesome (i am so baffled by your actions)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-19 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes?

[SHUT UP IT MAKES SENSE.]

We haven't discussed it too much, given that he spends far too much time being incredibly bizarre. Why does he insist on taking his shirt off all the time, exactly?
explosivecombat: (Logic is dying a slow and painful death)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-19 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
[...what

no seriously

what

he has never witnessed armstrong do this, what are you even - ]

I'm sorry?
enjoymyatelier: what is that thing doing here... (>warily regard bullet)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-19 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
...

This has never happened to you?
explosivecombat: (Logic is dying a slow and painful death)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-19 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Given that I haven't the vaguest idea what you're talking about, I think it's safe to say that it hasn't.
enjoymyatelier: that is incredibly unattractive (wow lancer what are you)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-20 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
...

Is this just something that's happening to me, then?

[...WHAT DOES HE TAKE FROM THIS]
explosivecombat: (Pretty sure my whole brain is crying)

1/2

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-20 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[HE...HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW, MAN...]

I...suppose that's possible...
explosivecombat: (I suppose that could be equally relevant)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-20 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[...y'know]

Of course, now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if Armstrong were to be interested in men - it's not something I had considered before, but...yes, that would be entirely unsurprising. And he seems the inner-beauty sort, so I -

[...................]

...admittedly still have no idea why he would be interested in you, but it is a thought.
explosivecombat: (Don't worry; it's nothing personal)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-20 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Really, I'm not sure if I should express my deepest sympathies or wish you luck, Lord El-Melloi.
enjoymyatelier: this is horrible (oh balls)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-20 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
...

I will be sure to make my disinterest obvious as soon as possible, then.
explosivecombat: (I love girls like that!)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-20 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Do be careful with him, he's a bit of a sensitive individual.
enjoymyatelier: zach. they're here. (migrane's a comin.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-20 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm quite sure that won't be an issue for me.
explosivecombat: (And what have we here?)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-20 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, planning to handle it with your usual degree of charm and grace, are you?
enjoymyatelier: kayneth looking smug as hell in a mocking way (well who's this douchebag?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-06-20 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[...IT'S UP TO YOU TO DECIDE IF THAT'S SELF-AWARE OR NOT, KIMBLEE...]
explosivecombat: (Pretty sure my whole brain is crying)

1/3

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2012-06-20 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Well! Give him a moment to decide whether he's proud of you for that moment of possible self-awareness or not, Kayneth.]
explosivecombat: (I suppose that could be equally relevant)
